Location and navigation
During navigation, TwittMap uses location readings from your Garmin watch or iPhone to follow your progress and request replacement routes. Background location access lets the iPhone continue this work when its screen is locked.
The iPhone sends route origins, destinations, travel mode and map coordinates to the TwittMap routing and mapping service. Place searches send your search text and, when used, nearby coordinates to the search service.
Location readings and route information pass between the watch and iPhone through Garmin’s connection software. Removing a watch from TwittMap does not remove its pairing in Garmin Connect.
Accounts and saved places
You can use TwittMap as a guest. Guest favourites, searches and destination history are stored on your iPhone.
If you sign in with Apple, TwittMap receives your Apple account identifier and the name and email address Apple supplies, which may be a private relay address. Your saved places and history are stored with your TwittMap account. Guest places are merged into that account when you sign in.
The app stores its sign-in credential in the iPhone Keychain. Signing out invalidates the current server session. Server sessions are configured to expire after 30 days.
Garmin connection information
TwittMap saves the selected watch’s identity on your iPhone so you can reconnect without selecting it again. Connection checks exchange short messages with the watch to establish whether the app is responding.
Choose Remove watch in Your Garmin to forget this local association and stop navigation.
Services involved
TwittMap uses Apple for Sign in with Apple and Garmin’s software for phone–watch communication. Its routing, search and map services process the requests needed for navigation. The development mapping service requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap.
The final notice will identify production hosting and map providers, the countries where information is processed, and any applicable international-transfer safeguards.
Storage and deletion
You can remove favourites, clear destination history, remove your saved watch and delete your TwittMap account from the app. Account deletion removes its saved-place library from the active account database. It does not revoke your Apple-side sign-in permission; you can manage that separately in Apple settings.
The current service keeps a limited cache of recent routes in memory and map tiles on disk. Production log retention, backup deletion and retention periods for support messages have not yet been set. These details must be added to the final notice.
Your choices
You can stop navigation, change location and Bluetooth permissions in iPhone settings, use guest mode, or remove your watch. Turning off permissions may prevent navigation or Garmin communication.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, receive a copy of, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, and to complain to a data-protection authority. You can send a privacy request to admin@map.twitt.app. Describe what you need; we may need to verify your identity before acting on an account request.
Before this notice is published
The publisher needs to confirm the legal basis for each processing purpose; production service providers and processing countries; retention and backup deletion periods; and the contact route for privacy requests and complaints.
This draft describes the current implementation. It does not claim that an unreleased service has completed those operational arrangements.
